What you should know about 35mm slide projection

January 1, 2012

ETS no longer provides 35mm slide projection equipment for loan and in general assignment classrooms. If you are planning on displaying 35mm slides, you do have a couple of options.

All of our technology classrooms have installed data/video projectors. Digital images may be displayed from your laptop using a classroom projector. You may wish to have your slides digitized in order to view them from your laptop. Here are a few service providers:

  • Slide Scanning Pros scans and corrects slides for only 29¢ per photo
  • TWO CAT Digital is a high-quality scanning operation based in San Leandro
  • Looking Glass photo on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley has a digital printing and scanning service

The Office of Educational Development offers Instructional Improvement Grants for digitizing slides. More information on this program can be found on the Center for Teachng & Learning website

If you choose to display 35mm slides and need equipment, ETS has a limited number of 35mm slide projectors, lenses and accessories available to transfer to you or your department on a first come first served basis. To request an equipment transfer, please email us.
