Have you considered using classroom response systems (such as iClicker) in your classes? Are you looking for new ideas and best practices for using these technology tools to support student learning? Want to get connected to a community of faculty interested in teaching with technology?
We would like to cordially invite you to a faculty dialogue on Using Classroom Response Systems to Encourage Student Engagement and Learning on Wednesday, August 15 from 11:30am to 1:30pm.This event is designed for faculty from across campus who are past or current classroom response system (CRS) users, who are thinking about using CRSs or who just want to learn more. We will be meeting in our brand new large active learning classroom in Wheeler 212 (which can accommodate 120 students)!
The agenda includes:
First hour: panel featuring experienced CRS users, to discuss: How to get started, logistics and classroom management strategies, and incorporating CRSs into your teaching
Featuring Martha Olney (Economics), Robin Ball (Molecular & Cell Biology), Crystal Chang (Global Studies), Dan Acland (Public Policy), Maryann Robak (Chemistry) and Jules Winter (Integrative Biology)
Second hour: Lunch and ongoing discussion: Writing good questions and demonstrations of innovative approaches to using CRSs in large and small classes, from a range of disciplines including economics, chemistry, global studies, and neuroscience.
Brief wrap-up: overview of ongoing support, resources and activities for fall semester
Post-event (1:30-3:30pm): Flexible time to ask questions, install and test out iClicker tools, set up individual consultations, and learn more about classroom response systems. Representatives from iClicker, as well as campus staff, will be available to answer questions and provide support.
