The Classroom Technology Services support team is here to help with all your classroom AV-related needs!
Our team has been busy over the summer upgrading and preparing general assignment classrooms across campus for the fall. Check out our updates and important start of semester info below:
Know your Space: New to your classroom? Want a refresher on the classroom AV? Book an AV orientation with an ETS staff member here! Orientations for Fall semester will be conducted through August 27th. Due to staffing constraints, we are unable to schedule in-class orientations during the first two weeks of instruction.
Wheeler and Pimentel: If you are scheduled in Wheeler Auditorium or Pimentel Hall, you will receive an email from the AV Point Person. Please reply to that email to schedule an orientation in these spaces.
Classrooms Refresh: Several classrooms were refreshed over the summer and now have HD features installed! These features include a direct HDMI connection, a Blu-Ray DVD player, and HD projector. Cory 289, Kroeber 160, Stanley 105, Dwinelle 145, and Hearst Field Annex A1 were all upgraded to HD. Please check out the Classrooms Database for more information on these and all GA classrooms.
Transitioning from VHS: While many GA rooms still have VCRs installed in the standard classroom AV black box, we are not replacing VCRs when they fail and/or as rooms are upgraded to HD technologies. ETS recommends that you digitize your tapes and preserve them with a more modern media format as soon as possible. The Moffitt Media Resources Center can assist in this process- read about the other ways you can preserve your media here.
Right Connections: While all GA classrooms have adapters installed to assist with connecting different devices, not every type of connection can be accommodated. Please check what adapter, if any, you will need to connect to a display, and check here to see if your classroom has the correct adapter for you. Some classrooms do not have an HDMI connection, so a VGA adapter may need to be acquired. Feel free to submit a request for an adapter here, or stop by the Academic Innovation Studio M-F 8am - 5 pm, room 117 on the D level of Dwinelle Hall, to check one out. You may check out an adapter as a temporary (two weeks maximum) loan, inventory permitting.
Please, give us a call at 510-643-8637 with any additional questions or for support if you encounter any issues with AV in your classroom.
