Update -- 10am, January 23: The fix for these issues was fully deployed over the weekend, and users should no longer experience errors when using the tools listed in this announcement. ETS will continue monitoring for any new errors or issues.

Update -- 11am, January 20: Error rates for the tools listed in this announcement have declined significantly; however, work on the full fix remains underway, and will be complete this evening (Friday 1/20).

Educational Technology Services is committed to helping the campus reduce energy use during the winter break and will be participating in the campus-wide curtailment. Emails and requests received during this time will be answered in the order in which they were received when the campus reopens Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Early in fall 2016, the Office of the Registrar implemented a new classroom information and management tool, called  25Live , ETS is pleased to be a partner in deploying this new tool. 25Live, part of the larger Student Information Systems Project, provides campus with a new one-stop resource for classroom details and scheduling functions.

A new resources hub for creating accessible online course content is now available to the campus community. The site was officially launched October 2016 as a tool to assist anyone on campus creating digital course content. The site offers help resources, training, guidelines and best practices.

This morning, Canvas engineers deployed better error handling to collect the necessary data from Crocodoc, so they can better help them identify the recent timeouts that are causing these intermittent issues for individual papers.

We are excited to announce a new collaboration between ETS and Campus Shared Services IT (CSS IT) to enhance support for ETS online services. Beginning later this semester CSS IT will provide email, web, and phone support to faculty, staff, and students for ETS online services: bCourses, Clickers, Academic Integrity (Turnitin, iThenticate), Course Capture, Suite C, and Online Evaluation of Courses.

For ETS, the Office of the Registrar, and other service teams on campus, the short summer months at Berkeley usually involve a rush of classroom maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and preparations before students returned for the Fall semester. This summer posed an additional set of challenges as teams worked to design and create seventeen “surge” classrooms to support the year-long closure of Wheeler Hall as part of the Wheeler Renewal project
